I want to setup my computer to stream media files to my xbox 360 wireless. I have a netgear wndr3700 router the xbox is hooked up to a sony bravia KDL-52V5100 tv.

My main problem is what is the best way to stream files such a mkv hd rips and a variety of 1080p/720p media files. I want to set up a server on my pc that I can connect to and just browse through and play my media files without having to convert ones that the xbox 360 doesn't natively support. I read TVersity is a good way to do this but somewhere I read it doesn't handle 4gb+ HD files or non built in subtitles but that might be an old issue not sure.

any suggestions would be great... would even just buying one of those wireless media player things that hooks right into the tv a better option than using the 360? thanks

and for mkv streaming from WMC, install Haali Matroska splitter - it plugs straight into WMF :) (DirectShow). It will allow WMC and WMP to play, and stream, MKV containers (most codecs that MKV encapsulates is going to be compatible with WMC/WMP, at any rate).
