Although I'm by no means a newbie when it comes to desktops and even laptops, I'm curious, how reliable would a wireless LAN be for gaming? Let's say I wanted to run a game like Starcraft against someone who is on my desktop (my wireless router is wired to my desktop). Would it work well? I'm still not sure how hard to push the network.

Alright, thanks! So, if I'm going to set up, say, a wireless home network, that's also my LAN, right? Problem is, I already have a wireless device on my home network (XBOX Live), so if I add my laptop to my home network, and then try to play in a game on LAN, will it try to interface with the XBOX as well and crash everything?

It wouldn't be a problem at all, the wireless connection will be faster than your internet connection, so that's not an issue either.
