Hey guys, I stumbled upon Intel Wireless docking while doing some research about vPro. I learned that wireless docking is achieved through Dell's wireless dock and pairing it with the AC18260, which seems to be available only in the E5570. Video below:

Now I've found some eBay and Amazon listings that sell just the card. Does anyone know if I can just install this into any other laptop (namely the Clevo P560RS) and be good to go? I'd love to have something like this as I go between the office and at home only needing to plug in the power cord.

I use the wigig dock at home on my M4800 so at least one model other than the E5570 works with the wireless dock. No idea about the clevo compatibility though, sorry.

And how's that working out for you so far? Any drawbacks? And does the M4800 come with the AC18260 by default or was it an aftermarket upgrade.

I guess I'll have to find out on my own. I'll update this in the next two weeks or so whenever I find somewhere decent to get the parts.

It came standard from the factory. I think it's a different/earlier card though (Dell 1602 vs 1802 maybe).

I'm pretty happy with the dock. It takes about thirty seconds to connect after boot and can be fussy if you move around a lot (beam forming) but I looove having Ethernet-like wifi speeds and wireless audio/USB/other.

At work I still use a standard E-Port dock but at home I have a wireless dock in my bedroom and living room. FWIW, I think I have the older/smaller wigig dock than what's shown in your OP.

That's the dream. Moving from home to office is such a pain at the moment as I like keeping all wires either out of site or neatly lined up. This means having to reach around the back of the desk and replugging HDMI + Mouse + KB + Power etc. that I just leave everything in work bar the laptop and only bring the rest home on the weekends.

Do you have any latency issues with general use or with games?

I haven't played anything but Civ over the wireless display connection, so I can't really comment on gaming latency. I've seen the display connection act flaky on occasion but only with my 21:9 widescreen monitor - it won't accept any resolution but 1920x1080 for no discernible reason. When this happens I just use the hdmi on the back of the laptop (in this scenario im using a wireless keyboard so the laptop is stationary on the desk anyway).

I'd love to use a wireless dock, though I'm not entrirely sure I will be able to cram an adapter and m.2 card inside my laptop's mini PCIE slot, height-wise - it is right under the keyboard.

Cheers @alexhawker , I'll have to be the guinea pig. For science!

@Starlight5 To be perfectly honest I'm not too sure. I think it will be as simple as replacing the wireless card you have the a Wi-Gig compatible one, then using it with the wireless dock. I could be really wrong though. With regards to the PCIE card and the Dell D5000, I'm not entirely sure what you mean.

Just realized the thread title mentions Intel - my card is Dell branded - is the Dell card a rebadged Intel one?

I'm not too sure about your one, but this is the one that comes with the E5570. So it's most likely just a rebadge.
