    Connection is lost after restart.
Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) is always stopped after restart and service must be restarted.

Opening Wireless Internet Connection and viewing available connection gives the following message: "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have installed another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software. If you want windows to configure this wireless connection, start the Wireless Zero Configuration."

Searching for answers I conclude yes there is a 3rd Party program managing the wireless connection plus the WZC. Because the two are in conflict the connection is lost.

I tried using the IntelPro management program only by stopping the WZC but would not detect available connection and gives the error above.

HP Pavilion dv2000 with Intel Pro 3945ABG wireless adapter, driver updated to Ver 12.20.11, 11/17/2008, using Windows XP Pro SP3

Router is a Linksys WRT54GS and works fine wirelessly with an ASUS Aspire 5515.

Did you try disabling or uninstalling the IntelPro Managment utility and letting Windows WZC handle it? After disabling or uninstalling go to the Services section and set WZC to Automatic and Start it. Restart again and see what happens.

    Thanks for the quick response.
I would like to disable or uninstall the IntelPro Management Utility but do not know how. How do I do that?
I do want WZC to manage my wireless connection

    Click on THIS.

Does your Intel Utility look similar to this...most importantly does it have a "Tools" or "Advanced" section such as the image in the link? Browse through those sections and look for terms such as ..."disable IntelPro Management..." or "Uncheck to let Windows manage the Wireless Adapter..."

You should be able to start the program by going to Start--> All Programs and look for the IntelPro Management program. You can also uninstall it by going to Control Panel--> Add/Remove Programs; look for the IntelPro Management program and uninstall it.

Persistence is the answer. After 3 days of research I found the answer with your help of course. Because I got the message "HP Network assistant currently does not support your router" I asked myself why. Could it possibly be a wireless driver problem. Sure enough I went to HP website and looked in the list of drivers for the Pavilion dv2000 and reading more carefully I found the driver for Intel Pro Network Adapter Driver (SP32144). Downloaded, installed, restarted and no more conflict and the wireless connection was restored.
    Thanks for your help.
