I have the Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5974 laptop...The switch for the wireless internet is in the on position, but when I troubleshoot, it states that the wireless connect isn't on...Can someone help?

Can you see available networks on the list or not?
Check the device manager to see if the card is installed properly or are there any issues with it- yellow exclamation mark.

Go to control panel/ networking center clink manage wireless networks (to the left) and delete all networks that you have there.
Reboot and try to connect once more (you'll have to provide passphrase once again)

Does your laptop have a Fn key? If so look in the manual for which Function key along with the Fn key turns on the wireless connection. On my Gateway it is Fn + F2.

I'd wager your wireless card is kaput. My wife has a similar laptop, and it did the exact same thing. I ended up buying a cheap USB adapter to use in the interim.

If it sees and shows other networks it's both alive and on.
