I know this will sound crazy, but when my Mbps as seen in my task manager go up to 54 Mbps, my brandnew HP Pavilian Notebook with Vista slows down and stops! I have checked my Comcast modum by hard ethernet connection to it; it is fine. I then used a USB port to hard connect to my Netgear router; also works fine. It is only with wireless and I have moved my router around for better 'line of site' to my laptop. I have no external anntenea on my laptop, but my wife does on her PC. She is having a simular problem at 54 Mbps. At lower Mbps, both systems work 'fast'.
My laptop will literally give me a blank page at 54 Mbps. The Netgear Router is about 4 years old. Do I need a new Router?
    Thanks

had a problem almost the same as this, i fixed it by moving my router away from pc. it had something to do with magnetic fields, interference from other electrical appliances.
to fix: i just got my self a longer cable from modem to router and moved the router as far away from everthing electrical i could.this aslo cured sudden loss of connection as well.
no more resetting the router :D
    just a thought
