On my old Acer laptop, there was an orange light in front that would blink at various rates when the wireless internet was being used. Now that I have a Lenovo W520, it does not have that light. It was really nice knowing when the internet was being accessed and relatively how fast.

Is there a simple program or something I can look at in Windows 7 that will blink or show me wireless activity (incoming/outgoing, transfer rate maybe...) either in the taskbar (preferred) or desktop?

i personally use the DUMeter 30-day trial. THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION FOR THE PRODUCT. It is free for 30 days, so why not? (no clue on what trash it leaves on your system though, my trial isn't up yet)

    i personally like it:
*i can see the current data rate and i can access totals for hour/day/week/month
*it shows in the taskbar and has separate ratings for downloads/uploads

no clue on its accuracy though.

I just login to my router via a favorite http://192.168.1.1 - a little cumbersome but comes in handy when issues arise. And w/verizon DSL they will
