    When we talk about wireless-N, we keep saying how much faster it is than wireless-G and all the others. However, the fact is that a wired connection is still the fastest, right? What is the difference in speed between a wired connection and wireless-N?

    11n can have speeds up to 330mbps. So it can be faster than 100baseT. But not any were close to GigE.

    Now these are internal network speeds, your isp is slower than 11g speeds. And some are slow enough that 11b will work.

    Okay, so in English :)... how much slower would wireless-N be compared to a wired network?

    Wireless N has speeds that can theortically be from 100Mbps to 300 Mbps(wireless has alot of factors that can slow the speeds)

    While wired networks go from 10Mbps> 100Mbps> 1000Mbps depending on your setup. So with this being said you can see how much slower or faster N is compared to wired.

    Fastest how? For internet wired is preferred, for two computers on the same wireless the wireless N would be preferred.

    Okay, so here's a question. On my old notebook that I'm using right now, I'm connecting directly to my modem at 100.0 Mbps. When I get my new laptop with wireless-N, it should still CONNECT at 100.0 Mbps, right? If this is correct so far, should I see a difference in download time between my wired connection I'm using now and my wireless-N connection I will be using soon?

    I highly doubt you have 100mbps internet. So the speed they connect at isn;t what you'd worry about. The difference in download speed should be pretty small, unless you get really far wirelessly, or your neighbor uses their 2.4ghz phone, at that point you'd notice wireless speeds going down.

    The connection is just between your pc/NB and router (internal LAN). Most ISP only avg 3mbps. You setup communication between pc and router. These speeds depending on router may be 10/100/1000BaseT to 11abgn (11-330mbps). These speeds are bennifical if you are moving files between pc's. Your Router to Modem may be 10/100BaseT, but your ISP will be way lower with the avg 3mbps with a lot of dsl below that.
