Would it cause any issues if I have both my Ethernet connected and wireless enabled? What source would be used or will they both be used?

Windows will prioritize the wired connection. If I plug in an ethernet while wifi is connected, it will start using the ethernet though will stay connected to wireless I think. You can manually change the priority by changing the automatic metric value.

I don't think that would happen automatically unless Wi-Fi drivers have an option to prioritize wired connection (Broadcom had this).

It's also not a good idea - local IP would change and as a result certain applications that are connected over LAN might lose connectivity.
I haven't fiddled with option but on my laptop the connection that is first stays connected - be it Wi-Fi or wired.

Huh, maybe its cause the ssid of the two networks are the same for me. The wifi actually disconnects from the network after it recognizes its the same network. I remember you could force ethernet to take priority over wifi after plugin with automatic metric, but I assumed the default was like that as well. Using the killer network card, so they definitely have some kind of software. Not sure if it does that though.

If its on the same lan, its worth the switchover to wired for online gaming. You never know when someone's microwave will crap on every frame in the air.

If you want to be sure, manually set the metric on your wired ethernet to be the lowest. Windows is not always as smart as it pretends to be.
