Ok, so my dad is working from home and put together a little shopping list for me. He needs cables and lots of them. I check them out and then i get confused. What does Cat 5, Cat 5e, Cat 6 mean?is it the thickness of the wire as well as speed or just speed? Also, they all fit in your standard RJ 45 connectors, right?

Why not go wireless? No need for cables.

Cat 5, cat 5e, cat 6 are categories for LAN cables. Cat 5 is old version, 5e is the one most widely use, the e = enhanced, runs at 100mbit/s. and cat6 is gigabit ethernet.
