    Hi!

I have a wired internet connection for my desktop PC and I want to be able to extend it to my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. I called my ISP and they told me I would have to pay for an additional internet account.

Is there a way of using the same account with another computer without them knowing this?
I thought of buying an extra network card and fit it into my PC, but I'm not very sure.

You need a router. You can even get a wireless router rather than wired, and then you could have wireless internet in your home.

The thing is that my account is uniquely identified using my desktop MAC. Would adding the router alter anything ?

Well the router just enables wireless connectivity so that you'll have our own password protected network that multiple users can connect to. You could set it up so that it accepts connections only from a specific mac address.

The router allows you to clone your mac address into it. This way the router (WAN port) will take on your PC mac address. This is the only MAC address they will see, NO matter how many pc you connect behind the router.
