My router is working fine, and I have 2 other laptops that work fine with wireless at my house. I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 and Dell checked the hardware and everything seems fine.

Unfortunately, they want me to buy a 400+$ plan for "OnCall" support so that they can tell me that I have to do a factory reinstall -- screw that!

Anyone have any ideas or anything that I can do?

The only thing that I could think of that caused the problem was I left it on overnight and it did a system update at 3AM but I did a backtrack and the computer restored to 2 days before and still not working.

I'm on the computer now connected through an ethernet cable.

    Any help appreciated

    Thank you

Dell says to do a factory reinstall but I dont want to do that, because I think there is another way that I can fix this.

Have you checked the router security settings and compared them to the laptop's wireless connection security settings?

The router had no WEP and then I just changed it to have a WEP and it still doesnt work. My laptop is on Mixed b/g mode and my router was on Mixed b/g but then I just changed it to g only and still no change.

Do you think it has to do with the advanced settings of my Dell network adapter?

Try updating the wireless card drivers.

What are the settings in advanced?
Edit:Look to see if the setting from the working notebooks and non working notebook are the same. If not change the non working to the setting of the working. And as other here have suggested double check your security settings.

If you have the Intel 4965 adapter that is your problem because my last Dell 1520 had the same issue and after Dell sending me another adapter I still had problems but after Iinstall a Intel 3945abg it worked fine till it started having other problems and ireturned it for a refund.
