    Hi Folks

I'm sure this isn't your typical problem but I don't know where to start lol.

    Problem:
Details later the main problem is that I keep getting an error while trying to "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection"

    Error Message:
" An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled.

Internet Connection sharing cannot be enabled.
A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing."

That is the root problem I think I have.

My Main problem is that I'm trying to install a Nintendo Wifi USB adapter software so I can play my DS online when I'm away from home. The thing is though I've installed this software before and things worked great for a few months, but for some strange reason now on both my Laptops they both stopped working at the same time. It may have to do with a number of things, I have no idea during that time I did a lot of things I can't remember.

I've managed to fix it on one of my laptops and re-install the program but my 2nd laptop will not work.

I've tried everything I could outlined on the Nintendo Wbesite besides call them. I'll leave that for a last resort, would like to figure it out on my own.

Here are the instructions on the site.

    http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/onlineUSBTSetup.jsp

When I try installing the software I get an error message saying " Internet Sharing Error (6)"

There was an occasion where I managed to

    Things I've done:
    Checked compared IP addresses
    Released/Renewed IP addresses
    Un-installed/Re-installed old software and drivers

There was a point where I managed to actually get my Nintendo USB Adapter to connect but the problem was I couldn't install the software that allowed my DS to connect online.

So right now I'm assuming that Internet Connecting Sharing is what is causing my software to crash while trying to install.

Any advice, input help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a bunch
    Jimmy

    Edit:

I have one more problem related to NetWork Connections I've been experiencing too thought I might as well ask seeing how it's related to NetWorking.

On the computer that I'm having problems with, when I go into "My Network Places" I no longer am able to see my other computer that is part of the NetWork. It use to show up but I can't seem to get it to appear no more. My other computer is able to see the computer with the problem just fine, but not the problem computer. It has happened to me once before but all I did was run "Set up a home or small office network" Wizard and it fixed the problem. It's not doing that anymore so if anyone knows what the problem is and could help, I'd love to hear about it.. thanks :)

Have you tried this with the FW turned off? They seam to cause all kind of problems at times.

I have no experience in your problem, but here are a few things you may try. Reset the port that is in bridge mode for ICS back to none or std port. You may want to disable the File and Printer sharing, too. Reboot once you do this and recheck that they are disabled. Then bring up the services ( start>admin tools>services) and see if there showing auto, but not loaded. If loaded you can stop them there. Uninstall the USB software. While it's connected look in the device manager. If you find the device, uninstall the driver. Once you uninstall/delete the device, unplug the usb device.

Again, reboot, verify that it did not load anything. Now start all over like it was never installed before.

    @ Blue68F100

Thanks for the reply. I'm very limited to my understanding when it comes to networking etc. So please bear with me.

"Reset the port that is in bridge mode for ICS back to none or std port"

Have no idea how to get this done. I don't even know what Bridge Mode is?
STD Port? Not sure what that means either. :(

I can disable File Sharing and Printing. (Knows how to do that lol)

The USB Wifi Adapter has already been uninstalled and everything has been cleared including software and drivers.

The only thing I don't really understand is the Bridge and Port thing.
The rest I'm familiar with. :)

    Thanks for replying so soon

When you activate ICS you have to select a port (lan/wlan) for it to use. It inturn changes the port to bridge mode. Turning off ICS should have changed it back. But if the register is scrambled, your best bet may be to do clean install.

Have you tried system restore back to a working date?

    lol

I've disabled System Restore (save me disk space only 40gb) and I can't do a clean install due to the fact that I have no drivers for the system. It is an old IBM Laptop about 5 or so years old, it still runs excellent (I've had to do many many tweaks) but it will be impossible to do a clean install and get it to work again with windows Drivers (I've done a clean install before and re-installed with windows couldn't find the drivers, luckily for me a buddy at school let me take an existing HD that had the drivers on and swap it). I don't have a recovery CD for it either because I bought it refurbished from my college. They only give you the system and that is it, I've asked for the disk but they do not offer it.

It's strange that I managed to get it to work on my other laptop but this one just can't seem to work :(

And your right though, now that think about it, I performed a registry clean with RegSeeker on both and started experiencing problems. (I've done other things too but this could be one of the problems)

But one managed to recover and the other one didn't?????

    Thanks for the reply Blue

I have discovered all of the register cleaners have caused problems for me. I do not recommend them for use any more. I would try to rebuild the the TCP/IP stack. I do not have the procedure, so you will need to go to MS Knowledge base and get it. It should rebuild the register, at least to basic. Most all MFG have drivers available for download. If you do not find them contact them by email or use the MFG section of this forum and see if someone has them for you.
