I got a new "N" router, my old router only supported WEP. Wondering if I can take advantage of WPA or WPA2 with the new router. Right now I have 2 different XP machines that need to connect.

It depends on the wireless card you have on the 2 XP machines.

For example, I have a very old PCMCIA Wireless Card that only does wireless B and it only has WEP support.

If you got anything after late 2004 or early 2005, your wireless card should have WPA and WPA2.

    Hope that helps.

Right...as Ch28Kid said...it's isn't necessarily the OS; but the Network Adapter that has to support it. Another example; is for instance the Built-In Wireless Adaptor in the laptop I am currently using at home doesn't support WPA, only WEP. So I use an external PCMCIA Wireless Adapter Card made by Linksys which supports WPA.

If the wireless card came with a client utility, then WPA2 might have been installed. If not, then you definitely have to install the MS WPA2 patch.
