Hey guys, I just got windows vista home premium for my Dell Inspiron E1505, it previously had Windows XP Home. Anyways, I have a Linksys Draft-N (Running mixed signals, A/B/G/N) and it has worked perfectly with my Linux laptop, my E1505 (when it was running XP), and my XP desktop. When I got Vista and tried connecting to my wireless network, it gave me a local connection only and the network manager showed that it was connected but had no connection to the internet. I've tried looking everywhere online whether it be disabling ipv6,updating drivers, etc. and it just wont work, I get the same result everytime.

Here's a weird thing though, I completely reset my router and tried connecting with no encryption whatsoever and it worked, so im not sure what the problem is but if someone could help, that would be great. Thanks!

I believe so. I am very new to vista so I have no idea how to manually input the IP,DNS,etc. As of right now everything is set to auto-obtain. The only thing that I have been asked to input is my WEP key, which is not in use atm.

Use WPA security. WEP is hopeless.

Also check DHCP is enabled on the router.

I will try your suggestion later in the day flipfire, thanks for the advice.

Just curious though, what is the logic behind using WPA vs. WEP fixing my problem?

You said it worked fine with no encryption

WEP is just old and unsecure.

I am not so sure it is WEP that is the problem as I have tried Vista on my laptop at a friend's house with WEP encryption and it connected fine no problems.
