I have built-in WiFi in my notebook but i never use it because it seems my router dis-likes the card and therefore i have had to use a PCIMCA card to transmit the signal to my router, it works ok 50/50 of the time but for some reason when i upgraded the laptop to Vista im having a horrid problem of having to fiddle for 10 mins when i start the notebook up to get on the net, was wondering could any of you guys help me with this, i think it might be issues that my router has the social skills of a crisp and doesn't wanna talk to my notebook if so ill get another but i hope i shouldn't have to.

    cheers guys

First make sure you are running the latest firmware on both router and client card (and built in). Make sure you only have one on (client card) at a time. Disable the IPv6. Would like to know the distance at which problems accour and what type of security you are running.

Even though Vista might tell you that there is no a newer driver for your nic, still go to the appropriate web site (e.g. Intel) and download the most up to date driver.

You might also want to re-create your home network and wireless network, use Vista installation wizard to do all that.

And as blue said, make sure that you don't have two wireless cards competing for the resources, one minicard in your laptop and the PCI card.
