The output of an ipconfig /all command includes these:
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
I came across a DSL MODEM recently that had myhome.westell.com for values for these. What exactly does this setting do, and what are reasonable values? I am used to seeing it blank, actually.
Do those parameters serve any purpose in the run-time functioning of DNS, and if so, what and how?

MSTechnet has an article that touches on these items (at least in the context of Win2000) here. As far as I can tell from skimming the article, it allows for the creation of fully qualified domain names ("FQDN") for each specific NIC a computer might have(obviously, only useful where the system has more than one NIC) so that each adapter has a separate FQDN.
