I have a DELL Studio 15 (1535, specifically) which was never offered with an Intel wireless card. The standard card was the Dell 1397-G and the upgrade was the Dell 1510-N.

I have the same PM965 chipset in my 1535 is also used in other Dell models (Inspiron 13/1420, Vostro, etc.) and most of them offer both the Dell 1510-N and the Intel 4965AGN as options.

The 1510-N is scarce on eBay (at the moment, at least) and on the Dell site, it costs $79.99 (or $39.99 for a refurb)!!! I can find the 4965AGN all day on eBay for under $25.

So...my question is, can I simply pull out the 1397-G and replace it with the Intel 4965AGN? I'm assuming I'll need to download any pertinent drivers from Dell, but is that all I'd need to do to get it working?

    Thanks!

I dont know if this helps but just keep in mind that you may not be going to Dell for that driver. You may need to get the driver from Intel.

I have being playing around with the laptop NIC cards for last month and that solved something else I was trying.

Just a heads up if Dell doesnt work for ya. Sorry I dont know about compatibility of what you are trying or want to try.

There will be drivers at Dell for the i4965 as my E1705 had the option for a i4965.

    But remember the i4965 doesn't do 11n @ 2.4Ghz.
