Hey guys, I just got the linksys WRT54G and its running great so far. I have a few questions though. Right now, I have three notebooks on this network, no desktops. Two are Wireless G, and they are both used around the house, one is only wireless b, but it is plugged into the router via ethernet cable.
My question is: 1. Do I need to have mixed mode turned on since I have the wireless b only laptop plugged in via an ethernet cable?
2. Will setting my router to G only improve my wireless performance?
Thanks for the help everyone.

Nope, wireless B if you are using it plugged in won't require a switch to B-G.
If you want to use the wireless mode then obviously you would need to turn on the mixed mode, there won't be any performance degradation besides the fact that it will be an additional leech off the connection.
BTW your review of the 9000t was great, good luck

Thanks for clearing that up for me man, my knowledge with networking is limited to say the least.
And thanks so much for the compliment on the review man, I really appreciate it. -
No problem, it gets very confusing sometimes espescially when diving into port settings, port forwarding, static IPs, and whatnot. Plus I find Linksys routers hardly user friendly it took me an hour to set my friends up where as my Netgear took 10 minutes.
feel free to post or PM me if you have any other questions. -
Yeah, port forwarding took me alot of wiki reading to learn.
Will do man, thanks again!

Yeah, but in the end the time worth setting up your Linksys really pays off.
Great, rock stable connections and good security features.
Will mixed mode slow things down?
