Only one of those Routers can be setup to handle Routing and DHCP functions, while the other should be configured to just be an AP. So most likely you would want to have the 2Wire to do these functions as that is the original Router from AT&T.

You need to find out why your devices are not connecting to it. You said you turned off the Wireless Security to test or no?

What Wireless Encryption security are you using on the Router?...and does your devices support those Security types.

I would personally recommend using WPA Personal PSK.

Are you absolutely sure that you're entering the correct Wireless Security Key on the Laptop/Phone?

Tried disabling the Security all together?

Tried simply unplugging and replugging the 2Wire Modem's power to power cycle it?

Are you using DHCP or Static IP Assignment on the Router?

I suppose you don't have the Manual nearby....

What's the Model of the 2Wire Router?

Actually that's incorrect information. If you configure both routers properly you can have a second NAT router behind the first one.

However, multiple NAT routing for a home network is almost always redundant and not necessary. If you connect successfully to the external facing one, you won't be able to easily connect to the inner one without additional configuration. The default for a lot of DSL routers is to have NAT routing enabled. You can sometimes disable it to have it act merely as an ethernet bridge. Personally I would disable NAT routing on your 2wire device it if you can. However, if you do this you will have only 1 wifi network (which should be adequate for you)

Before anyone can answer that question however, you need to give us the full model number. :)
