Title says it all...I am thinking about purchasing a Lenovo Thinkpad Y550 which comes with an Intel WiFi Link 5100 1x2 (AGN) WLAN and want to know if it is compatible with a Linksys WRT54G. And, do they work with every type of router (as in, I am sitting in a coffee house somewhere and want to connect to their wifi). Yeah it's a total noob question but I have no idea and don't want to buy the wrong laptop. Thanks!

Should work fine be sure to have the latest wifi drivers for the laptop and firmware for your router. Also make sure your settings in the wifi advance area on the laptop match with your router. I do remember that the older drivers did have some issues.

You can also check the forums on the Lenovo website and see if people are having issues.
