it is wireless internet. Your laptop has an internal wireless card so you can connect to wireless routers. If you goto a hotel that advertises free wireless internet, you should be able to connect to it. You don't have to have an ethernet cable to connect to the web at home either. You could buy a wireless router, and be able to have internet in most of your house. It also works at school/library/internet cafe, etc.

It also allows you to use the resources of one computer from another. I use the printer attached to one of the desktops at home to print from this notebook. Saves hooking up any wores here at home. I also use the desktop as a warehouse for pictures and such for the notebook.

You'll need a wireless router. Then you'll have to get a printer server like http://www.netgear.com/products/details/PS101.php

You can connect the print server to the wireless router, but i'm not sure if this will work with all printers. There are some 4 in 1 printers that seems to have problems with printer servers.

You could also just hook up your printer to a dekstop computer, and then network your desktop computer and laptop together.

Assuming that the printer is connected to one of the printers and u are willing to have this printer on all you need to do is share it to your local network from this computer and then on ALL of the computer which are connected to the network simply add printer, select network printer and browse to the shared printer and u are going. I use all of my printers here that way.

This is the second mechanism SG recommends.

ok heres the thing. I have a wireless router, but right now im using a hard wire connection from a wired router coming from another room. The printer is in the same room as my laptop. I would set up the wireless router again in the other room and then get the printer server and all this stuff. Im not even so sure I remember how to set up a wireless router nemore since its been so long.
