    Hey guys and gals,

I've had my notebook for 3 years now, its a Compaq Presario v2020ap.

I recently got attacked by some worm or virus that stuffed my system up good and proper, I had to nuke my hard disk. Since doing so I have reinstalled all drivers etc but for some reason I can't use wifi. I push the button, theres no blue light, I check the internet settings and theres no wireless icon in there or anything.

Any ideas as to why I can't get it to work?

    Thanks

Do you know the exact name of your wifi adapter? I checked out HP.com and they listed the wifi driver but it had 3 different models included. If you know the exact type, head over to Intel and locate your model there. Using older drivers can cause some instability or missing features that were added some time later.

Edit: Oh, didn't quite notice the other few manufacturers on that also support your notebook model. :embarrassed:

I have no idea the type/name of my adapter, and well I'm not too computer oriented when it comes to anything other than turning it on to surf the net or watch dvds. Could you give me some instruction on how to determine the adapter name/model?

    Cheers

Go into the device manager and right-click on the listing for the wireless adapter; you should be able to find the hardware type there.
