Hi, I have a 18 months old Lenovo Thinkpad R61 with Intel Pro/ Wireless 3945ABG network card.
Recently I have been observing some connectivity problems with my Wifi. I turn on my computer, connect to a hot spot and do normal browsing.
After sometime (maybe 15 min, 5 min sometimes or might be 30 min or 1 hr) the wireless adapter gets turned off( The green wifi light turns off, my network is disconnected, even the network center says its disconnected)

Lenovo has this network tool which pops out when we press Fn+F5 key.
It shows wifi is turned on.
Then I click a button to turn off the wifi in that pop-up window.
Then it shows wifi turned off. Now I press the button again to turn it back on. It doesn't turn on no matter how many times I press it.
Next I try to turn off and on the hardware wireless switch.
It has no effect when I turn it on.
Now I go to Device manager and disable the network adapter, then enable it again.
It works most of the time when I disable it and again enable it.
But sometimes I need to restart the computer because the device manager freezes occasionally when I try to do this.
I tried updating the drivers, but the system says I have the latest drivers, and that's true. I had this problem with vista(pre installed), on Ubuntu, and on Win 7 which I am using now.
I thought it might be some conflict with some process, so I tried using wifi in safemode with networking, and the problem creeps up there too.
I also checked if it was because of power savings for the adapter, but it's not.
Any suggestions. Enabling and disabling it every 10-20 min is really a pain.
    Please help me resolve this

You've got warranty? It seems like you've tried all the steps neccessary to solve the issue and as I read your post it sounds like a defective Wi-Fi card to me; may be a MoBo issue, idk but I would give Lenovo a call.

I know what you mean, the HDX also has a tendency to do that also. In fact, sometimes the volume controls go haywire turning on and off all by themselves. Sometimes I get the feeling there are cornish pixies in the machines.
