I would like to connect to the internet with my laptop. The place where I'll be using it doesn't have any hot spots in the area. So, how and what do I need to connect.

    Thanks for any help

You need some kind of Internet service provider. This means that you need to pay for some kind of service. If you are going to be in the same place all the time and can setup service than DSL or fiber optic through a phone company or ISP in your area is needed.
If you are going to be mobile and you can get cell service, you may be able to use a wireless modem from one of the wireless internet carriers.

I do not know where you are and what kind of service you need, so I can't recommend any services by name. So give us a little more info so you can get help.
