Allright, SPECs are the Lenovo in my sig.

I am currently using the latest drivers from Intel. But I've been having this problem regardless of driver.

Upon wake, I typically get the following two pop-ups:

I've found that if I go to Device Manager, disable my wireless card, and enable it, I can get WiFi to turn back on properly. However, it often takes several toggles to get things running. Below you will see that there are three separate drivers associated with my card:

It is not uncommon for after the first several toggles that only "Adapter #2" is enabled (& "Microsoft Virtual WiFi MiniPort Adapter" does not show up at all).

It is not until "Microsoft Virtual WiFi MiniPort Adapter" ends shows up, that my wireless card begins to work again.

I have installed devcon and used AutoHotkey to ease disable/enable process, but I'd rather fix this problem instead of cover it up with duct tape.

Also noteworthy, I have unchecked "allow computer to disable this device for powersaving", and in my power options, I have Maximum performance for my WiFi card set in all profiles.

Any suggestions or leads would be great. This thing is driving me bonkers. Somehow the drivers aren't initializing properly upon resume from sleep, but I don't know enough to know what or how.

P.S. Also related (will probably do a separate post later, but in case it's related), when I resume from sleep, I have to re-add previously networked printers (even though I'm plugged in via Cat5). However, if I plug in and boot fresh, I am then connected to the previously added network printer.

what happens if you do not use the wifi profile tool, but instead use windows wireless?

In Device manager, on your wireless adapter, there is a power management setting in properties that allows windows to power down your network adapters...turn that off.

Yes, I am using the Windows wireless tool to connect to networks, but this card has the ability to double as a wifi hotspot, which is the Intel My Wifi Technology.

Also, I have ensured that power settings are not conflicting already.

"waking from sleep" is often a driver problem.

make sure that your BIOS is up to date, the OS is up to date, the chipset drivers are up to date, and the device drivers for the adapter are up to date.

Beyond that, it may (possibly) be beneficial if your hiberfil.sys file is not too fragmented.

That last point is one that a lot of people dispute but it's easy enough tto take care of.

All of the above are updated. I do not hibernate, and hiberfil.sys has been deleted.

Perhaps the drivers of all of the above conflict in some what. I'm confident it is a driver issue, as enabling/disabling my wifi card fixes the problem eventually.

Not sure if it's related, but when I shutdown, I ALWAYS get the "programs still need to close" prompt overlay, even if I close out all programs.

Newsposter is right. This is usually a driver problem. It was a fairly common problem in Windows XP. I haven't seen it much in Windows 7, but I was just reading information on Microsoft's site today that does indicate that it still happens even with Windows 7.

As mentioned make sure you have the newest drivers from the manufacturer's website and update your bios.

    Take care,
    Shannon
