    Hi,

I have only ever set up one WiFi Router before and had a nightmare. I thought I understood it quite well but I don't, so I must read a few guides.

Before I get to work I was hoping someone could tell me whats the best I need for my situation.

The laptop I am ordering (3 weeks away, w8ing for student loan) will be for the Uni halls and taking around to my friends house for LAN.

A lot of my friends don't have wireless devices so I need something I can just carry with the laptop and hopefully plug in and play.

As I have had a little experienced with wireless, i realise that it isn't just the plug in and play.

My laptop will have a wireless card, but what would be the easiest device to take around a friends house so we can LAN without much hassle. Also I will being this to connect my laptop to the Uni network as im not sure my Halls has wireless only ethernet ports.

Anyone know of brands, a model thats kinda hassle free?

    Thanks

    they sell mini wireless routers.
However, you will need to log into their network/router to plug in your wireless router. linksys and netgear make little portable wireless routers.
    Look in to those.

I've had a look around and found this, Linksys WRT54GC Mini Wireless Router.

I have read a little on it and heard Linksys is a good brand. Its also quite small, so would be convient.

Thanks Reezin14, but looking to get something as small as possible rly.

So with this, once I set it up wireless to my laptop, will it be as simple as plugging my halls or my friends ntl connection to the internet port? And then a cable from his computer to one of the internet ports?
