    Hi,

Does widi work only with protected content?
For example if I download a movie from the net - will I be able to play it to my TV through widi?

    Thanks.

WiDi for the 1st generation "Core i" series (Arrandale) cannot play protected content (i.e. DVD, Blu-Ray), but will play streaming content from the web, as well as archived disk content (i.e. non-commercial disks). It will also only do 2 channel audio and a max of 720p resolution (or is it 768p, I forget...)

WiDi for the 2nd generation "Core i" series (Sandy Bridge) can play protected content on disk no problem at 1080p with 5.1 surround, but it also requires the use of a 2nd generation WiDi router/ TV interface/ whatever you want to call it.

If you're asking about pirated copies of movies, I can't comment on that.
