My HP DV8 DTR with an Intel 6200 wifi card, Belkin N-router, Fios Internet service 50mb/s downloaad, 30mb/s uplload, has suddenly, with no apparent changes to the computer, router, wifi card, router, begun taking 2 minutes or more to connect to the router (the delay is to the router, not to the Internet after connecting to the router) from sleep whereas it generally has been almost instantaneous from sleep

I know this is an often discussed subject, but even Googling it (with NBR in the search box and without) does not provide a solution, because I have already tried what I think are the 6 or 7 most commonly suggested troubleshooting options (power settings options are, I think, but do suggest one it if it is commonly overlooked and sounds like the culprit, thanks)

So, I guess it's a matter of trying an extremely obvious approach which is nonetheless often overlooked or a very rare condition, which does address the problem directly. Or just point me to the thread that I can't find that addresses this issue.

    Thanks

It's set at Forever but, before seeing your post, I had just been able to remedy the problem by one last driver re-install. What would you have suggested I change the lease time to and, should I change it anyway, or is Forever ok to use, er, forever?!!

I can't make sense of why, after several driver uninstall/reinstalls the last one, with the latest driver, worked. This card in this computer with this router and ISP have been working with the older drivers this year and last. Any thoughts? I would say it was a total fluke, but it did happen once before and I don't know what "fixed" it, but it was likely either driver reinstall or just waiting it out for a few days (I don't put that computer to sleep very often anyway.)

    Thanks for answering my post.

    *cough* Belkin-N router *cough*

Does this only happen after waking up from sleep? Try updating the Intel drivers first.

It DHCP lease time is set to forever you can forget that.
I've seen issues you've described happen when DHCP lease time was short (and ended while laptop was hibernated) and associate/disassociate process took up to a minute.
