    Why not 108mbps?

    i have a netgear DG834PN (capable of doing 108mbps on networking speeds).. yet my 4965AGN (which is capable of doing 270mbps) only shows up as being 54mbps when connected to my router...also i have another laptop which has a netgear PCMCIA card, which when connectd is at 108 mbps, any ideas why? is it only a netgear thing to get 108mbps?

    The 108mbps stuff is not a standard. Every manufacturer did its own. 108mbps is not 801.11n or draft n. It is not standardised and it will only be supported by some other cards from the same manufacturer.

    Maybe there is a new router firmware that will help but most likely you are out of luck. You router only supports 801.11g which is 54mbps.

    108mbps will only work with 108mbps cards. When they moved to N they dropped support for it, even if you get a Netgear N card it still won't work. If you want 270mbps you need a new N router, but then the old pcmcia card would only connect at 54...

    do you have some type of speedbooster router? if you do, you MUST have a speedbooster card from the same manufacturer. OEM's never integrate speedbooster technologies into their laptops.
