My internet keeps connecting to the Domican Republic version of certain sites (google, myspace, etc.) and my internet is going extremely slow. It's similar to when I'm using an IP hiding software but after turning that off the problem continued so I uninstalled it and even that didn't help. Also, the space on my hard drive went from roughly 1 gb to 25 mb overnight without me downloading something. People were using my laptop last night when I wasn't watching so they may have accidentally messed with something but the problem with the hard drive has occurred on several occasions so I think it may be something more.

    Any suggestions?

I know this sounds so noobish, but do an AV scan and spyware scan :) Maybe there's something lurking in the background

Sound like you infected with something. And/or your browser has been hijacked. My guess they probably turned off your AV, and have installed BAD STUFF. If you find these a lot of times it easer to just reload the PC.

Well, I realized that IE is working fine so I uninstalled firefox. I have NOD32 antivirus (scan turned up nothing) but I'm going to get an anti-spyware program and see if that helps.

Try using system restore back to a good point.

I managed to fix the problem without using system restore. I had to go to (in Firefox) Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection Settings and change from the manual proxy (which was using some strange IP) to one of the other two settings. After I did that the problem with the Spanish pages was corrected.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions though.

I'm glad you found your problem. All along i thought maybe you were like peter from family guy who found out his true heritage was as an illegal Mexican immigrant.
