Recently I replaced the dell1394 with a new Gigabyte GN-WI01GT Atheros MiniPCIEXPRESS card.
Also i networked my laptop using a Dlink 634M, with the Network Magic application..
Now, when i turn on my laptop i have the 3 applicacions managing the wireless connection, also i have the Microsoft wireless network connections .
I managed to turn off Network Magic and the Gigabyte Super Wireless Utility.
But when i look at the MS wireless connection, i noticed that the wireless zero is not configured.(middle tab), but the wireless is connected at 108 Mbps,excellent...
This is very strange, since i killed the other 2 (Network Magic and the Gigabyte)

I noticed that after i while the gigabyte goes down on their own.

Wich one should i make the default to handle the wireless connection settings,?

Which one does a better job at it...?
Please i need help to set up this right...

    Thank You

The best driver I've found for the GNWI01GT is the Atheros 5.0.0.107 driver, if you're running XP.

Uninstall the Gigabyte and Dlink software.
    Install the Atheros software.
Manage your connection with the Atheros Client Utility.

Thanks WAckyT, i look at my drivers I am using 4.2.2.4 dated 11/4/2005 and i am using XPMCE2005 32 bit version.

IS this Atheros_5.0.0.107.exe compatible with XP 32 ?

Uninstall the Gigabyte and Dlink software...DONE
Install the Atheros software... NOT sure about this, i can see an Atheros Configuration Services running in SERVICES
Manage your connection with the Atheros Client Utility....Is this related to the Gigabyte utilitythat I installed?

Yup. That's the XP 32-bit software. In your system tray (lower right) you should see an icon with 4 vertical bars looking like a cell phone signal level. Right click on it and click on Open Atheros Client Utility...

Grrrrrrr!!! NO 4 vertical bars, only the computer with waves comming out indicating 108 Mbps.
If i turn the Gigabyte Client Utility i can see the bars and the Gigabyte logo as well as the Atheros logo
    Utility version 4.2.0.374.05 date 03/08/2007
    driver version 4.2.2.4 date 11/04/2005

This creates the bars with sign on top for the super G. the name of the network shows 2times....and the speed only 54 Mbps....

You need to uninstall the Gigabyte software.

This is what the Atheros Client Utility system tray icon looks like.

Ok finally i was able to find out what was wrong...
The gigaByte Utility comes with the driver version 4.2.2.4 date 11/04/2005.
The Atheros utility comes with the Atheros 5.0.0.107 driver
I uninstall everything, hardware (disable) and software...

Reinstalled again with Atheros 5.0.0.107 driver and installed the utility, very similar to the Gigabyte.
Only diference is the"SITE SURVEY" tab, now build into the "Profile MANAGEMENT" under a Button anmed "SCAN".
Signal strenght 68 to 70 dB.
SuperG enabled, with a little sign on top. like an S.
Presently set up router with Dynamic Turbo enabled

    Curious about the XR.....

XR might work with that. The DI-634M uses 2XR (Xccelerated Rates at Xtended Range) where as the GN-WI01GT chipset (Atheros AR5006EGS) uses XR (eXtended Range). In the Atheros Client Utility > Profile Management tab > Scan... , is your router being shown with a symbol under the XR column?

Nope ...only SuperG enabled, with a little sign on top. like an S in the column.
I was wondering if this feature needs to enabled on the card and/or the router...?

If your card is seeing your router as an XR capable router, then check the XR radio button in Profile Management.

Card shows SUPERG checked and eXtended range (XR) Checkedon Advanced Profile management...

seems that ...If the link distance is long (and hence your airlink connection speed is low/marginal), you might also try turning on the "Extended Range" (xr Mode) option in the DI-624. It allows the communications channel to be maintained even at rates below 1 Mbps -- hence preventing dropouts. However, xr Mode does disable Turbo Super G mode, and will also require that SSID broadcast be enabled on your router.

Well, I'd stick with Super G then, unless you need long range.

That's cool then. How far away from the router can you go with it still getting 108 Mbps?
