New Macbook with wireless N. I am looking to upgrade my 2Wire DSL wireless router.

An Airport Extreme would work great. Though it is not needed, another N router would work fine with your macbook. You don't need an apple product for your macbook to go online. A D-Link or Belkin would be fine as well.

Although with a 2WIRE I'm not sure you can just switch it out. Usually a 2WIRE router is the router and modem all in one (usually with a simple 10 digit WEP, right?) You might need to talk to your service provider to see if you are able to switch it out or if they can give you a modem to which you could hook up your own wireless router.
