I currently have a a desktop PC and two work laptop pc's working off a linksys g-router. We just bought a MacBook Pro and want to be able to use our external hard drive and printer wirelessly. It would take a print server and a storage link to get the standard g-router to work like this, so I thought it might be better to try an AirPort Extreme. The problem is that neither of the laptop pc's will allow us to add software on them (locked down by our respective companies). Can you use the airport extreme without loading software on to other computers (like if a friend came over with his pc laptop and tried to use your internet). If this won't work, then what are other options I have for setting this up. The desktop will operate via wire and the MacBook Pro will work wirelessly and use the printer, hard drive, and internet. The two laptop PC's would only use the internet. The airport extreme seems like an easy tool for this as long as I don't have to load software on all of the pc's.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you company gives you access to the wireless adapter setup, so you can add a wireless location it will work. You should be able to test it, at home, just try adding another location. IF NOT, You will not be able to connect to any NON company approved setup.

If I recall the Airport does not require any software. You will be required to add a printer and wireless network location. Again if your company has the NB locked down, you may not be able to add a printer.

I will only be using the work laptops on the internet access. I do not need to have printer and harddrive access when working on the work laptops. I can choose any network as a connection, I just want to make sure that I don't need to load software to link to the AirPort Extreme for those work laptops.
