    Which one would you buy?
    Linksys NAS200 + 500 GB SATA drive (need to buy separately)

    HP MV2020 Media Vault (500 GB)

    I guess the HP is RAID 1 capable... which means what?

    Primary purpose is to use as a backup and File sharing NAS device.

    HP ofcourse. Different league.

    The Linksys is just a simple external drive that can be attached to a network. No backup capabilities, no extras.

    The HP as any other NAS that can accomodate 2 or more disks can actually safeguard all your data by keeping a backup image when configured as a RAID 1 array.
