    Hi,

I have an Asus UL30A-X5 that came with atheros wifi card and only one antenna wired to the lcd, this doesn't allow the laptop to get wifi signal not even 30feet away, because of this i decided to upgrade the wifi card and antennas on the way since i was already dissembling 80% of the laptop already to reach the wifi card, so i bought a couple of Tyco antennas and intel 6300, im just wondering where should i place them. Here is a rough pic of what im planning, haven't secure anything, its just an rough idea.

But im wondering..... is it safe behind the lcd? the original antenna is placed at the top of lcd bezel (see black cable on top right that ends on a green pcb), the tyco antennas while having the same connectors to the wifi card, they are a little different on the end, an orange paper think plastic that holds the terminal of the antenna, the wire gauge is the same but they are also slightly larger so im planing on using the lcd bezel to curl/hide the extra wire of the the tyco antennas. Im planing to secure the antennas with Sekisui Tape (very thin double side tape used in memory heatsinks), but im still checking if you guys think its ok or should i aim at another spot.

Placing the antennas behind the screen panel is absolutely safe. In fact, that's exactly what I did. Most laptop manufactures are also using this type of setup as well. I'm not so familiar with the Sekisui tape, but I myself used standard electrical tape which can be found at any hardware store.

Find a tape supplier that carries a large varity of 3M tape products. You'll surely find a tape to fit your need(s).

I've used 3M tape products on rather large jets, and then all the way down to very small electrical connections.

I usually place them the closest to the outside edge of the panel as possible

    Thanks for the replies,

I finished :D , had some trouble powering the laptop back up mostly out of a mechanism to install the ribbons that connect the mobo with the upper bracket, but was my innexpierience with laptops.

Here is a pic of the back plasic casing of the monitor with the 2 antennas installed, and the below the 6300 installed, had to trim a little cause the 3rd antenna had a plastic over.

Sadly i though that 3 antennas and intel 6300 would be a little better in range, and probably it is, but very small, and i still have trouble getting signal to the kitchen :( . I guess im gona get an access point wired there to have better reception.
