You probably want to steal someone's internet connection. That way, it'll be free. Otherwise, a 5Mb-25Mb high speed internet connection cost around $30.

Jeez... only $30 up there? And that's in CAD... it costs around $40-$50 for a high-speed connect here in the states, and that's in USD.

But I agree with jackluo923... $15 for high-speed just doesn't exist. I don't know the market there, but you MIGHT be able to get the absolute bargain-basement DSL for that price. Check with your telephone provider (if you already have land-line phone service. Otherwise it's probably not worth it).

For $25 in vancouver ( a bundle from Shaw), I get a 25-30Mbit/s connection with unlimited bandwidth. I think shaw forgot to cap my bandwidth and didn't care about the 60GB upload/download limit.

Ok. Wasn't challenging you, just didn't know where the "here" was that you were referring to, since your profile doesn't show a location.

I'm on the MTS Lightning plan ($45/month) getting about 200KB/s DL (sometimes faster/slower depending on the server's connection). Torrenting I can get up to about 350KB/s if there's lots of good seeds.
You should also look at cable options, it might be faster than DSL in your area. It was the exact opposite with me, Shaw managed only about 50KB/s, 75KB/s if we were lucky and cost about $10 more before we switched about 2 1/2 years ago.

EDIT: plus, MTS (and Shaw I'm sure) have introductory plans so you could see if you can get a fast plan and then downgrade once the introductory period is over.

Shaw is definetly faster. You need to know how to "torrent" in order to get good speed from shaw including encryption and port forwarding. When i'm torrenting with shaw highspeed internet and good seeds and peers, the maximum speed i got once is over 25,000kb/s or over25mbit/s or over 3.5MB/s. Normally, I get above 10000kb/s download speed with my shaw highspeed internet connection..
