I bought an Intel 6230. Had all the features I wanted but when I installed it the computer wouldn't turn on. The indicator lights flashed and fan turned on but the display did nothing. Tried switching them out about 3 times and it would never work with the Intel one in.

My old card was a Realtek RTL8188CE (standard b/g/n). The laptop's a Toshiba L775D-S7304... but the specs aren't completely accurate b/c I upgraded the processor (A8) and RAM.

Not really sure why the Intel card didn't work with my system. Maybe it was because I have an AMD based system but I kind of assumed it would, just b/c you can put a Radeon GPU in a Intel board with desktops...

I have this vague recollection of Toshiba whitelisting parts in BIOS- or am I imagining things?

Intel card work fine in my Amds, as long as you can boot through the whitelist (my HP).
There is some handicap on my k53 but intel cards are usable.

Search for a whitelist-removed bios or request 1 on those forums.
