I'm using the intel wireless utility for my wireless. My wireless icon sometimes doesn't have any colour when usually its either green, yellow, or red but sometimes no colour.
When i hover the mouse pointer over the icon the comment box says "Another wireless network utility is communicating with the intel PRO/wireless adapter."

Anyone have any idea what this means?

couldn't you just uninstall the Intel Wireless Configuration program and use the Windows Wireless configuration utility?

Sounds to me like the Windows Wireless Configuration tool is taking control of the device. On my laptop, the OEM wireless manager has an option something like 'allow Windows to manage wireless connections'. When that option is set, the OEM config tool is basically disabled.
