I have two laptops in the house and both are always on. I have a 802.11B linksys router. When it's connected, it works pretty well but every 1 hour or so, it looses its connection and I have to restart both my router and laptops. Does anyone else have this problem? I am also thinking of upgrading to a d-link G router. Would it make a difference?

Perhaps a firmware update will help. Make sure it is not next your computer or cordless phone.

most likely you have a 2.4ghz cordless phone in your house which is interfering with your wireless signal as they are same frequency signals... other possibility is as zaz stated firmware issues... most likely its your router, try calling up linksys help line and finding out whats the trouble... but if i were you i'd get a netgear 54g they are cheaper and usually no problems... d-links are usually refurbs which are just rebadged broken routers such as your own...

Try switching your router's channel. If it's set at the default channel, it's subject to a lot of interference.

Funny that you mentioned that. Sometimes when my 2.4ghz rings, my wireless cuts off. This only happens when it Rings. When this does happen my wireless turns back on right after I answer.

It's werid how ONLY WHEN IT RINGS, but I can talk with wireless working.

Does this happen on all of your router's channels? Usually switching to a higher or lower channel eliminates these types of problems.

I always use channel 6 2.437GHz. Being that it happens only sometimes makes me believe that the phone is auto changing it's channel. I think most
    2.4 cordless phones do that.

I'm just trying to figure out why only when it rings.

You should change your router's channel.

I have had that happen with the phone after changing router channels. I actually found out it was somebody else's device by using a program that snifs the air :).
