I was in task manager earlier and I noticed in the network tab that I had 2 local area connections: the one I am using at 100mbps, and another one disconnected at 1gbps. I went in network connections, and there is also that local area connection 2, and it says a network cable is unplugged. As far as I know, I only have one connection.. what is that second one? Did I just install two drivers without realizing it?

Well I have virtualbox installed, but I already have my VirtualBox Host - Only network in networks. Is that second connection I mention in the first post also part of it?

The "Network Connections" page should give you all the connections as well as the device name they are tied to

Yeah that's what it gives me :
-Local area connection : Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)

-Local area connection 2 : (A network cable is unplugged)
Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)

-VirtualBox Host - Only Network : unidentified network

I'm wondering what's that second one?

Your motherboard probably has 2 ethernet ports on the back you can disable it if you want since it's not being used.

I am finding it more rare to run into PCs with two ethernet ports these days.

Hmmm...wow...when I first saw this thread that's the first thing I thought, but I gave the OP the benefit of the doubt and decided that he/she would have known that that was the reason (if that was the case) so I didn't even mention it. :)  :D
