i have a np5620 sager laptop that doesn't have wireless built in. i bought a wireless card and it will not work, so thinking it might be a bad card and borrowed another one it doesn't work. so thinking that the pci slot is bad and i want ths old laptop to be connected to the net i want to to try a usb wireless adapter.....................my question is do they really work and which one is good. i only spent $15 buck on my belkin at compgeeks but will pay more to get the old girl to connect wirelessly.

I am against USB wireless adapters as a rule....I use them for emergency connections but I find they tend to burn out quickly if used for any large downloads (say, a windows service pack)

Now, if your pcimia slot isn't working check device manager and see if there is any devices with a yellow exclamation point.

If all looks OK, did you install the drivers for the wireless card correctly? (usually, wireless driver, then plug in adapter)
