What will benefit me more with the Dlink 655? Placing it downstairs (where xbox live is) or directly upstairs (where laptop is)

Yeah, I am purchasing the dlink 655 n wireless router from aamzon. I was wondering where I will get the best connection overall for both since I will be using them both equally. I would prefer a better laptop internet connection, but if there is a noticable difference on wheere I should place the router, that would be helpful.

I had a verizon fios three deal plan, where there was wireless also installed on the system. it worked great for the xbox 360 and the modem was placed upstairs.

Because WiFi, we recommend to put the router downstairs so the signal goes everywhere from down up.

Um, will there be a significant decrease in connection if I place the router downstairs rather than up? (laptop)

Yes, I meant "main" floor when I said downstairs (assuming a two story house plus a basement). Do not put your router in the basement.
