    It seems to have better dection in distance over the older Intel Wireless cards.

    My HP dv2000 has the Intel 3845ABG. It's out for sale in many notebooks, actually.

    Not some mystery wireless card or nothing.

    You mean the 3965ABG is widely available? Because, you mention you have the 3845ABG, which I guess you meant the 3945ABG, but I'm wondering about the 3965ABG. I'm planning to get a new notebook in the next month so I just don't want to have "older" parts if I can help it.

    Meh, I wouldn't worry about it. Probably just some tweaks here there or a marketing scheme.
