Hello, I was using wifi off my neighbors router.
Now they have a password for the wifi.

I have no other choice, but to get cable.

    Should I get 1mbps or 5mbps?

I game a lot, download a lot, streaming videos/music and surf the web a lot.

What speed would be sufficient for gaming without high ping?

(is cable faster than a wireless router?)

latency in games does not depend on the speed , so u will be fine with the 1mb connection if your internet service provider is good , if u need to download things fast you will need the 5mb , though most websites supports about 500kb/sec download speeds , u will use the 5mb speed only when streaming video or downloading torrents , wireless router will not do any noticeable difference unless u will stay with ur laptop far away from the router

Thanks a lot for the info. I'll try the 1 first then if it doesn't satisfy me, i'll get an upgrade to 5.
