    I used TOR a while back and found it to be very slow and unreliable.

    TOR is decent from my opinion. But I like VPN's better (HSS/OVPN/Cyberghost) since they're faster.

    But TOR is much more convenient since you can just put it in a flashdrive and run it almost anywhere.

    VPNs aren't exactly trustworthy though- there have been cases where they immediately gave up on users when asked by law enforcement.
    TOR is far better in that respect although it is slower.

    agreed, tor is better for privacy, vpn for convenience and country blocks. Tor is usually quite slow and unreliable. I have no real usage for Tor since I stopped financing revolutions ;-)
    silly word of advice - be careful/safe in there, it's a legal grey (more black than grey) zone, lots of dodgy people there...
