I have an Intel Pro/1000 PL Network Connection device in my HP Vista 32bit machine that used to give a status speed of Gigabit but now is at 100 Mbps.

What do I need to check out?

Make sure there are no kinks in the cable, no new cables running near it, and so on. The main reason to drop from Gigabit to 100Mbit is noise on the line or a broken cable. Does it happen with another cable, or on another port?

    Thanks, I'll check it out.

Will the status change as I correct a problem or do I need to reboot or something and check status again?
