With Vista, when I wake my lappy up from sleep, it takes about 1.5-2 minutes to connect to my network. Is this normal? Or is there anything I can do to speed this up?

Does it just say that you are not connected, or have you tried opening up internet, and it doesnt work. Like my icon will say im not connected, but if i open mozilla, i will have internet, and it takes 2 minutes for my icon to say im connected.

I just tried that, and the internet wouldn't work until the icon said I was connected. And also, when I turn my computer on after being shut down, it connects as soon as it starts up. Weird. If there would ever be a driver update or such to fix this, would it be with Vista or Intel?

I know when i went from a full shutdown, then started up. It took a while for it to reconize my network. and that happened with Vista and XP. Make sure you have updated your wireless router. linksys.com or what ever you have.

    It is called firmware.

I have the Linksys WRT54GL v1.1. Right now, there are only firmware updates for v1.0. So I guess I just have to wait it out. Either that, or just deal with the waiting to connect.

Have you used that router with a previous computer? If so did you experience the same problem? And have you also used it with xp?

I have never had a need for a wireless router before, so I bought it recently so that I can use the internet. I am connecting an XP desktop to a Vista laptop.
