    Hello

I have WAG54G2 with firmware v.1.00.10 and I want to upgrade it to the latest version (v.1.00.19), what are the steps?

Will something wrong happen to the router if the firmware fails?

    Please help.

    Thanks

It's been a while since I've done a firmware upgrade on a Linksys router. There should be a upgrade gui under the utilities part of the router's admin section.

Basicly you download the upgraded firmware. Then select the upgrade file and sit back and watch. There is always a chance that things can go wrong. Like loose power during the upgrade process, if you have a UPS, use it. There are also a recovery process too. All router these day come with a factory clean firmware to allow them to load the original firmware. So if something goes south in most all cases you can recover.

I had WAG160N once, I tried to upgrade, it's now dead at all.
I don't know what happened then, I got browser error page during upgrading.

Instructions are here. Make sure you are connected via ethernet.

If it unexpectedly fails, then you could brick the router and render it useless. If you follow instructions this shouldnt happen. There are ways to recover it anyway.

I usually do a hard reset before flashing.
