Hi everyone. My network right now consists of a wired PC, wireless Macbook, and a wireless Vaio. Everytime the Vaio connects to the wireless network, my Macbook gets disconnected and MSN logs off and I lose my internet connection.

Is there a fix for this? Because I found that when it was just my wired PC and my wireless Macbook, I never suffered from a dropped connection. But when the Vaio was thrown into the equation, all hell broke loose. lol

Try giving them static ip address, the vaio might be using the mac ip address.

Try changing the broadcast channel, I had a problem when transferring large files kills all other client connections. I tried 3-5 and then finally 11 is fine.

Second. I change to static IP if one computer steals another's IP. Other peoples wireless in the area might be messing things up too, or cellphones. Channel 11 (for me) doesn't work at all. Just go through each channel to see what is best.

Hey aznkid, I'm having the same problem as you and I also just bought a Vaio. Sometimes when the vaio and my hp are both connected, they both lose connection. Before when it was just my hp, and 2 desktops (one connected wirelessly), there was no problem. Maybe VAIO's have compatibility issues with WRT54Gs.

WRT54G v5 up are not very good, Linksys reduced the amount of ram and went away form the linux firmware.

dd-wrt now makes a version that works in the low ram models. My suggestion is to upgrade to dd-wrt and most all of your problems will clear up.

Do a scan of your area with net stumbler. Your neighbor may have one of the newer routers (11n) that does not play well with others. And has not upgrade to v2 firmware, even though there is a hole in the spec so the can still do it.
